What our visitors say

Thank you so much. Genuinely these experiences would not happen without the security of the boys knowing its linked to Andys Angels. It takes Theo time and hand holding but he does it as he trusts you  x
Katie
We are really grateful to Kayla and Millie, and all of the volunteers for running The Grief Play Cafe. Everybody interacts with my three children and makes them feel included. It’s full of friendly faces and laughter, and there’s always someone to chat to- whether you’re a child or an adult.

There is absolutely no pressure to talk about your grief journey and who has died but if you would like to talk we have amazing Volunteers who are all happy to lend a listening ear.

We have 5 safe spaces with our café.

A play area for children, which also includes a craft table with a different craft each month.

A café space, where you can grab a hot or cold drink and order some amazing food from Dee Dee’s. Dee Dee’s Facebook profile here.

A High School Hang Out room for our Young People we support, here there is a different activity each month, i.e. Kung Fu, Chess, Dungeons and Dragons, Creative Therapeutic Arts.

Lastly, a reflection area, this space is for anyone, children and/or adults, including volunteers, who just need some time out from the café, if at any time it becomes overwhelming and if needed/wanted a Volunteer can support as well.

An outdoor space, with play equipment and physical activities

Our café is free to attend but if you wish to give a donation, there is a donation bucket in the café alongside a QR code for online payments, give if and what you can. You can see more on our Donate page

Our Grief Play Café focuses in supporting children and their families, but there is no age criteria, the whole family is welcome.

Our focus is on human loss.

We welcome anyone who is wishing to Volunteer to complete a short interest form here and our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch.

There is no length of grief journey criteria before you can Volunteer, as long as you feel it is the right time and you are in a place where you feel you can support others. Our Volunteer Coordinator can support you with this during initial conversations.
