Andy’s Angels Virtual Balloon Race: Raising Spirits and Funds!
At Andy’s Angels, we’re always looking for creative ways to bring our community together while supporting grieving children and their families. This year, our Virtual Balloon Race proved to be a colourful, exciting, and heart-warming event that lifted spirits, quite literally!
A Fun Way to Make a Difference
Participants from near and far “adopted” their own virtual balloons, choosing names and designs before releasing them into our simulated sky. Each balloon soared across digital landscapes, tracked in real time as it journeyed toward its virtual finish line. While it was a playful competition, the true goal was far more meaningful: raising vital funds to support our services for children coping with loss.
Honouring National Grief Awareness Day
This year, we were especially proud to hold our Virtual Balloon Race around National Grief Awareness Day. The event offered a way for families and supporters to acknowledge grief openly, celebrate the memory of loved ones, and show solidarity with children navigating loss. By coming together in this shared experience, our community demonstrated that grief is something we don’t have to face alone.
Engaging the Community
The Virtual Balloon Race brought together families, friends, and supporters of Andy’s Angels in a fun, inclusive way. Children were especially excited to see their balloons “fly” on the tracker, cheering each other on as the race unfolded. The event reminded everyone that, even in difficult times, small moments of joy can bring a community together.
Raising Awareness and Support
Every ticket purchased and every balloon released helped fund essential programmes, from play therapy sessions to bereavement workshops. Beyond fundraising, the race also raised awareness of the challenges grieving children face and the importance of compassionate support, a perfect complement to the messages of National Grief Awareness Day.
Celebrating Participants and Winners
As the race came to a close, we celebrated participants of all ages. Prizes were awarded for the furthest-flying balloons. But the real winners were the children and families who will benefit from the funds raised, a reminder of why every balloon mattered.
Looking to the Future
The Virtual Balloon Race was more than just an event; it was a symbol of hope, community, and the joy of coming together for a cause that truly matters. We’re already excited to plan our next race and continue finding fun ways to support the children who need us most.
Thank you to everyone who participated, cheered, and supported our mission. Your balloons soared and so did the spirits of everyone at Andy’s Angels!
